Hmmm, this one is hard. Feel free to take my review with a grain of salt. Positives: -great atmosphere -great service -friendly Negatives: -didn't love the pizza -didn't love the cheese steak either. Mind you, I did not dislike it. I just simply was not blown away with it, which I expected to be after reading reviews. I cared less about the cheesesteak, and the reason I came here was strictly for the pizza and strictly due to the review from Portnoy. A disclaimer: as opposed to Portnoy, I absolutely adore neapolitan-style pizza, especially contemporary Neapolitan style pizza. Love them so much that I learned how to perfect them at home! (Three pictures are attached, and two of them are actually my own pizza, for comparison. The pizza from Violet stone is the thinner one that you can see on the rack.) So while Dave loves his crunchy, no flop pizzas, I prefer the soft, delicate, and luxurious mouthfeel of a high hydration neapolitan pizza. BUT, I knew what this was going in and absolutely would not dock points based off of a texture I don't love. I had been wanting to try this place for a long time, but it’s pretty far from where I live. One day, we were at a Rays game and realized it was only about 10 minutes away, so we finally decided to give it a try. We ordered a cheese pizza, a pepperoni pizza, and a Philly cheesesteak. Wow—it did not disappoint! The pizza was so good that I completely forgot to take pictures before we ate it. And the Philly cheesesteak was amazing, honestly the best one I’ve had in the Tampa area. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and very helpful, which made the experience even better. We enjoyed everything we ordered and can’t wait to come back to try more items from the menu. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for great pizza and an incredible Philly cheesesteak!

So we decided to try this place on vacation. And im glad we did. I enjoy well done pizza so I was excited to try this. I got my signature cherry peppers and pepperoni crunchy, not too over done sauce was sweet I enjoyed this pizza alot. From my photos you can see the under carriage.... my 13 year old stepdaughter however didnt enjoy it which I called ahead of time in the car before we got home. Everyone else I was with enjoyed it I think it lives up to the hype. I will recommend and would return if im ever on vacation again around here. We got 3 pizzas which was 63.00 .

Late-night Saturday cravings, satisfied — the night before the Super Bowl, no less. My wife had been talking about Violet Stone for a while — apparently it's the only spot she knew of that puts cheese wiz on their cheesesteak subs, and once that idea gets in her head, there's no talking her out of it. So off we went, half an hour before closing, on the eve of the Super Bowl, to make her happy (and feed the crew). We weren't planning to eat in — we packed everything into our trusty pizza warmer bag for the ride home, and it kept everything perfectly toasty. What we ordered: Pepperoni & Bacon pizza (safe pick for our 10-year-old, who isn't quite brave enough for the specialty pies yet) Philly Cheesesteak with peppers and cheese wiz Fried pickles The verdict: I'm so glad we finally tried this place. The pizza was above average, but the fried pickles genuinely surprised me — they looked a little charred and unassuming, but they were anything but. Pickle spears, not rounds, which turned out to be the perfect shape for scooping up that addictive dipping sauce. I could not stop eating them. Had lunch at Violet Stone to try the famous Philly Cheesesteak. Had the steak and chicken Phillies. Loved the steak; ordered with extra cheese and onions. Our little tried the cheese pizza too, and it was tasty, crunchy with nice sauce. Not a ton of parking so you’ll have to park on the street and walk If you aren’t lucky enough to grab one of the 5-6 spots out back.
